Long-term volunteer with Allkin, a community-centric social service agency, across multiple touchpoints: befriending, organising field trips for families, and initiating a tech reskilling programme for SAHMs and mid-career switchers. Won an unrestricted $20K grant for Allkin as a recipient of the Volunteering Impact Award from Salesforce, one of the most fulfilling moments in my life
Never knew I could have so much fun combining two of the things that I love the most - photography and romance - until I was invited to shoot my best friend’s proposal. I had my first taste and have never looked back since. There’s nothing more gratifying than helping someone out on their special day so that they can focus on what matters most: their loved one
Made during a 48h short film competition, Transit tells the story of an Uber driver who finds a once familiar passenger in his rearview mirror. Sat in the boot of the car capturing sound, and then handled the post-processing of that sound - thankfully - in a far more comfortable air-conditioned studio
Engaged Punggol West residents on their concerns and wrote letters of appeal on their behalf to the relevant government agencies and community organisations. Learnt to be on top of policy announcements and understand the connections between different public service entities to provide earlier resolution for residents
Web friendly presentation of a language documentation exercise conducted with a speaker of Hakka, a heritage language of Singapore. Transcription and dictionary were created with ELAN and FLEx, and the webpage enhanced with search functionality and audio playback. Built for a module's capstone project under my linguistics minor - an unexpected but edifying detour
The only thing I enjoy as much, if not more, than photography is writing. One day, after editing photos from my Barcelona trip, I decided to pen a short photoessay about the city that, in a short time, went from being merely another must-visit destination, to one that I began to understand from the perspective of locals hoping to preserve the character of their precious home
